The third edition of Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience (VFDE) organised by global property developer Emaar Properties in partnership with Vogue Italia and supported by the Dubai Design & Fashion Council, held at The Dubai Mall once again defined Dubai as a global fashion capital while also serving as a platform to promote and support emerging talents from around the world.

 

 

 

A charity gala dinner, hosted by supermodel Eva Herzigova, marked the closing of the third VFDE, which raised funds and awareness for the World Food Programme, underlining the social commitment of the fashion industry to make a positive difference to humanity.

 

 

 

A-list celebrities and international fashion personalities from around the world attended the event. They included: Carla Bruni, Italian singer, songwriter and former model; Christian Louboutin, CEO of Louboutin; Peter Dundas, Creative Director of Roberto Cavalli; Silvia Venturini Fendi, Creative Director for Accessories & Men's Lines & President of Alta Roma; Philipp Plein, Creative Director; Alberta Ferretti, Creative Director; Carlo Capasa, President of Camera Moda; Federico Marchetti, Chief Executive Officer, Yoox Net-a-Porter Group; Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine; Imran Amed, founder of BOF.com; Miroslava Duma, founder of Buro 24/7; and supermodels Mariacarla Boscono and Eva Herzigova, amongst others.

 

 

 

VFDE 2015, held over two days, commenced with a Catwalk Fashion Show in the Fashion Catwalk of The Dubai Mall, hosted by model Carmen Kass. The show highlighted the creations of eight international emerging designers. The designers chosen were: Studio One Eighty Nine, The Kayys, Reem Al Kanhal, Arthur Arbesser, Krikor Jabotian, Melitta Baumeister, Xiao Li and L72.

 

 

 

VFDE 2015 also hosted the first edition of Who is on Next? Dubai a talent scouting initiative focused on emerging designers from the Middle East, Asia and Africa, and Fashion Lectures led by Christian Louboutin, Miroslava Duma, and Silvia Venturini Fendi. The sessions were moderated by Jessica Michault, Editor-in-Chief of Nowfashion. Several in-store activations by the leading fashion outlets in The Dubai Mall were also held.

 

 

 

At the closing gala, defined by scintillating performances of Carla Bruni and Cheb Khaled, and set against the backdrop of The Dubai Fountain in an all-white themed event, the winners of Who is on Next? Dubai were also announced. The winners are:

  • Jourden and Sindiso Khumalo (who win the chance to present their collection during Milan Fashion Week)
  • Jourden, Susana Traça & MaXhosa by Laduma (who win the chance to present the collection globally on Yoox.com, the world's leading online lifestyle store for fashion, design and art)
  • Hussein Bazaza (who wins the chance to present the collection in Rome during Al Taroma 2016)
  • sulvam (who wins the chance to present the collection in Florence during Pitti Immagine Uomo 2016)
  • Brother Vellies, Nathalie Trad and Anita Quansah London (who win the chance to showcase at Palazzo Morando during September 2016 edition of Milan Fashion Week)

 

 

 

All the winners will also have the opportunity to sell their collections at a special temporary store within The Dubai Mall.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The 25 talented designers chosen for Who is on Next? Dubai were: Absence, Adriaan Kuiters + Jody Paulsen, Anita Quansah London, Beyond Closet, Brother Vellies, Byungmun Seo, CA&LOU, Cynthia & Xiao, Dent de Man, Elio Abou Fayssal, Faissal El-Malak, Hussein Bazaza, J Moon, Jourden, Maryam Omaira, Matter Matters, max.tan, MaXhosa by Laduma, Nathalie Trad, Sindiso Khumalo, sulvam, Susana Traça, Ujoh, Yirantian and Youjia Jin. Their collections will be evaluated by a panel of globally-renowned fashion experts.

 

 

Who is on Next? Dubai was launched by Vogue Italia and Emaar Properties, in collaboration with Altaroma and with the support of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Pitti Immagine and yoox.com, online retail and media partner. The project covered three categories: womenswear, menswear and accessories. Official partners of VFDE 2015 were Sephora, Pepsi, Emirates Airline and OSN.
